Blockchain could possibly be the most transformative technology since the advent of World Wide Web some 20 years ago. Bitcoin, the most successful application of blockchain has a market capitalization of $46 billion and has the potential to replace fiat currency as we know it today. But Cryptocurrency is just the start, there are multiple applications of blockchain that can profoundly change commerce, health, democracy just to name a few. This presentation will provide a primer into this technology by demystifying some of the technical aspects as well as highlighting the broader economic and social implications.

About the Speaker:

Kash Sharvini is a software engineer with more than 20 years of software development experience with expertise in J2EE frameworks, security, and Cryptographic protocols. He studied Computer Science at Simon Fraser University from 1990 to 1994. He is currently working as SeniorSoftware Architect at InComm Canada.
